For decades, brittle software held robotics back. Every robot had to be programmed for every task. Foundation models are changing that, while actuators, sensors and compute keep getting cheaper.
Meanwhile, labour shortages in manufacturing, logistics, agriculture and care have made automation a survival question. The demand is already here. What is missing is robots that work outside a lab.
The winners will master deployment, not the demo: fleet operations, safety, service, and a business model customers can adopt without a capital budget.
